The Via Italia BIA is announcing a warning about counterfeit bills, a concern for local businesses. The organization has provided tips from the Windsor Police Service on how to spot fake currency. Canadian banknotes have built-in security features, making them difficult to counterfeit. To spot counterfeit cash, one should feel the texture and raised ink, check the transparent window, metallic portrait, and frosted maple leaf, and flip the bill for mirror images and color shifts. If a bill is suspected to be fake, it should not be used or accepted and reported to the police. The Small Business & Entrepreneurship Centre (SBEC) team is planning to visit the Via Italia BIA this fall to share information about services and learn about businesses’ needs. SBEC is a resource for people starting or growing a small business in Windsor-Essex, providing access to business advice, training, mentorship, and financing
